Folding your GIGSAK

Congratulations!!!

You are now the proud owner of a GIGSAK®, the unique multi-functional outdoor blanket! So you have your GIGSAK® all ready and are just waiting for the weekend. But how exactly should you fold your GIGSAK® to easily slide it into our large tote bag?

      Quick Tips

Before going into detail we thought we’d share some valuable quick tips.

      • It’s always much easier to fold your GIGSAK® with a friend, or husband, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, kids, or even the mother-in-law! You get the gist.
      • GIGSAK® Kids is by far the easiest to fold due to its smaller size. Let the kids be responsible for folding it, it is theirs after all!
      • GIGSAK® Giant is the toughest folding workout, it’s not impossible to fold alone but a GFF is highly recommended (that’s a GIGSAK® Folding Friend)
      • When your GIGSAK® is nice and clean, fold it fleece-to-fleece on the first fold, so the polyester is on the outside. We know it’s not quite as cool to look at, and show off, but the polyester is your friend when you want to slide GIGSAK® into our lovely large tote bag. If you want to show it off then just turn the GIGSAK® logo corner over like when it was delivered to you.
      • When your GIGSAK® is maybe dirty, then fold the polyester-to-polyester  on the first fold, so the fleece is on the outside. This ensures you to trap any nasties such as mud, poop, sand etc. on the inside. The exception is maybe when the kids, or dog, has thrown up on the fleece after too much sunshine, sea, sugar, and fun!
      • Finally, it really doesn’t matter how you fold your GIGSAK® as long as you can get it home safely. Fold it, roll it, in thirds, in halves, it’s all pretty much the same.

        The GIGSAK® Folding Technical Guide

Here goes, the process is much the same but we will try and explain ‘Halves’ versus ‘Thirds’ folding.

The Half Method (Quick and Simple)

You’ve probably done this thousands of times with a quilt cover or tablecloth so it should be familiar. If in doubt check out this simple video, the concept is exactly the same as folding a GIGSAK®.

Don’t forget, is your GIGSAK® clean or dirty? If it’s clean then ensure the polyester is going to be on the outside, this is then a nice slippery surface to slide GIGSAK® into our  large tote bag.
        1. Hold a GIGSAK® corner in each hand. It doesn’t really matter which corners but we prefer to hold the corners of the shorter edge of the  GIGSAK®.
        2. Hold your arms out as wide as you can, now fold  GIGSAK® in half by bringing your hands together.
        3. Hold the two corners with one hand.
        4. Grab the other corner, this should have the two corners folded together the same as the one you’re holding in your other hand.
        5. Hold your arms out as wide as you can, now fold  GIGSAK® in half by bringing your hands together.
        6. Repeat folding until  GIGSAK® is small enough to place into  our lovely large tote bag.

        The Thirds Method

Although it is possible to fold this method alone, standing up, we wouldn’t recommend it with GIGSAK® Giant. As in the video below, it is much easier to fold this method with the GIGSAK® flat on the floor.

Don’t forget, is your GIGSAK® clean or dirty? If it’s clean then ensure the polyester is going to be on the outside, this is then a nice slippery surface to slide GIGSAK® into our  large tote bag.

        1. Lay the GIGSAK® on the floor.
        2. Fold the long edge of your GIGSAK® towards the centre to around the the 2/3 mark.
        3. Fold the other long edge of your GIGSAK® towards the folded edge. Your GIGSAK® shold now look very long and skinny.
        4. Fold the short edge towards the centre to around the 1/4 mark. Now repeat until GIGSAK® is small enough to place into our lovely large tote bag.
        5. If you want to roll your GIGSAK® then ignore step 4 and just roll.
